Grandmothers Were Crucial for Human Evolution
Anthropologists and evolutionary biologists have long struggled to explain the existence of menopause, a life stage limited to humans. New mathematical evidence in support of the theory of ‘Grandmothering’,1997 by Hawkes, explaining menopause by citing the evolutionary value of grandmothering, could help anthropologists decode human evolution.
