South Africa Rejects Rhino Horn Trade Legalization
The recent surge in rhino poaching due to a stimulated consumer demand among newly-wealthy consumers in Vietnam and China had resulted in a controversial proposal to open international trade in rhino horn. This was championed by some private rhino owners. South Africa has however said they will not submit a proposal to legalize trade in rhino horn.
