A Chapter on Tea in School Textbooks: NCERT Proposal
Considering the Indian tea industry is the single largest employer of women and 83% households in India consume tea, NCERT tabled a proposal to include tea and its role in the economy and society in middle school textbooks. Distribution, geographic conditions for its cultivation, and tea leaves harvesting by women are detailed in these chapters.
