First Mammal Specie Wiped Out by Human-Caused Climate Change
The Bramble Cay melomys, a small rodent that was the only mammal endemic to Great Barrier Reef has become extinct, Australian scientists say. It is also the first recorded global extinction of a mammal due to human-caused climate change. As a result of rising seas, the island was inundated killing the animals and also destroying their habitat.
